Sometimes an organization has a name that makes you wonder what they do – 

Not so here at Community Alternatives – Our name is exactly what we do –

We offer the community alternatives to the mainstream services designed to aid the mentally ill and homeless members of our community –

Can you imagine trying to navigate the health care system to obtain the services you need while you are homeless, hungry, without transportation, or struggling with substance abuse – all while battling mental illness?

As we walk with our clients we provide a variety of services from obtaining medical and psychiatric care, disability income, and employment guidance services.  We provide services in vivo (in their world and their community).  Very little is actually done in our offices.  

We drive our clients to where they need to be – We teach them to ride the bus – We help them find housing so they are no longer on our streets, in our hospitals or in our jails – Once they are in housing we help them obtain basic life skills such as cooking, cleaning, shopping, budgeting – things most of us take for granted –
